Grading primers, collecting strategies, and market analysis — everything we'd tell a friend just starting out, plus what we're watching this week.
Five Ascended Heroes cards made TCGplayer's October 13 list of the ten biggest Pokémon price drops, led by Pikachu ex 276 (-$110.87) and Mega Dragonite ex 290 (-$101.40). Sales recorded since then are lower still. Here is why the set keeps falling and what holders, buyers and graders should do this week.
A PSA 10 Art Academy "Raincoat Pikachu" sold for $8.4 million at Fanatics Collect on September 27, 2026. PSA 10 copies sold for $156,250 in June and $79,999.99 in August. One print does not reprice the other 56 slabs, so here is what holders should go by instead.
Delta Reign preorders are running 20 to 80 percent over MSRP for a set with zero sales history. Two of the last three Pokemon releases punished exactly that trade, and one did not. Here is what the evidence supports, what it does not, and when to buy.
30th Celebration opened in Tokyo and Ohio on the same day. That removed the Japan-first price preview collectors had come to rely on. The next set brings that preview back, so learn to price a set without one.
Community tracking puts 30th Celebration pull rates near 1 in 20 for SIRs, and pre-release prices are breaking. Two days after launch, here is what the odds show, which tiers are falling, and what to watch before you buy, sell or grade.
Six 30th Celebration products launched September 16, and none of them sells packs on their own. We ranked each one by cost per pack at MSRP, from $5.00 to about $5.55, and worked out what the promos and extras add. We also looked at why the October 2 Booster Bundle, at $4.49 a pack, beats all of them.
The 30th Celebration Charizard reprint arrives September 16 and, according to multiple card databases, keeps the Base Set 4/102 number. Here is how to tell it from a 1999 original, the 2021 Celebrations reprint and a fake before you pay vintage money.
There is no English booster box for 30th Celebration, so every pack arrives inside a bundle. Here is the method for turning MSRP tables, street comps, and Japanese import costs into one comparable cost-per-pack figure.
Three Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes tins arrive August 28 at $21.99, each with a foil Mega ex promo and four booster packs. The promos are reprints trading under $2. The four packs are worth roughly $52. That spread — not promo scarcity — is the entire story.
Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration lands September 16, 2026 as what The Pokémon Company calls the first simultaneous global release. That removes the 42-to-56-day Japanese head start English buyers have used as a pricing signal — and the set's reprints appear to be gated behind a $179 SKU that does not ship until November 6.
The summer 2026 Pokémon flood — 1M+ Destined Rivals and 2M+ combined special-collection and Prismatic Evolutions units routed into warehouse retail — is a deliberate print-to-demand action aimed at collapsing scalper premiums. Here's how to tell which of your sealed positions is holding a distortion premium that's about to evaporate, and which is holding a genuine scarcity premium the restock can't touch.
Chaos Rising's chase tier is cooling off, but a $25 Greninja BREAK from 2016 just had its best week in years. We separate the one confirmed mover from the spillover noise — and weigh a July reprint that could cap the bump.
Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising launched May 22, 2026 with sealed selling above MSRP and Mega Greninja ex anchoring the chase. Seven days in, the singles tape tells a more cautious story than the hype suggests.
Temporal Forces hit shelves in March 2024 and was widely written off as another mid-cycle SV expansion to flip and forget. Twenty-six months in, the tape disagrees. We unpack the four structural factors keeping TEF singles bid — and apply the same lens to Stellar Crown and Surging Sparks.
TCGplayer's May 13 'Cards Dropping in Price' report reads like one story but contains four. Separating new-set supply curves, promo flooding, post-spike mean reversion, and thin-volume noise is the only useful read.
